Thursday Lili painted a picture.
Me: "Oh, Lili. That's so beautiful!"
Lili: "Are you being sarcastic?"
Three. Years. Old.

OK, there is a back story. Earlier, Lili had dropped her box of marbles all over the floor. I said (chuckling), "Good one!"
Lili: "Why did you say 'good one?'
Me: "I was being sarcastic."
Lili: "What is sarcastic?
Me: It's when you say the opposite of what you mean. It's a joke.
Lili: Oh.
She's very bright.
Mommy here, hoping that the tiniest linguist doesn't pick up on "passive-aggressive", the other most frequently used form of verbal communication in our home.
