Whole or Skim?

"It's only hubris if I fail." -Julius Caesar

Mommy and her big mouth. Less than a week after putting keyboard to blog and confessing my pride in Lili's formula-free diet, she hits a nine-month growth spurt and devours the entire back stock of frozen milk. Granted, we're not talking about an overflowing mini-fridge of expressed milk--there were perhaps three bags total. However. In keeping with my long-standing tradition of having pretty much the worst timing ever, this latest milk craze happened to come at a time when I had reduced my number of daily work pumpings from three to two. I had assumed this much needed time away from the Medela Pump N'Style was only impacting my mental well-being, and that the babe could do without the extra four or five ounces of breast milk per week. Oh, Mommy. So naive.

Update: As it turns out, Grandma Kool saved the day. Or maybe Nana saved the day. At any rate, Lili is apparently crazy about the Greek yogurt that Nana bought (Opa!), and ate an entire bowl (mixed with oatmeal) for breakfast, which allowed Grandma Kool to preserve our scant supply of milk during the day, which means we made it through The Great Milk Drought of 2009 without resorting to formula! It takes a village...

Note to other moms: Lili is not so fond of the "YoBaby" yogurt for babies. That was about $7 down the drain.
